Client: Large Local Authority
Services: Architecture, Project Management, CDM-C

This lottery funded library extension, provided the community with a revitalised facility. Our design for a new toy library included a resource area to support family learning, mother and toddler sessions, and advice surgeries, whilst also providing larger administrative areas, additional parking bays and a designated outdoor play space.

We were appointed to help gain lottery funding and produced feasibility studies and designs during this period. Although an extensive process, funding was obtained within a six month period and with no issues at planning stage, construction began in Autumn 2008.

Our Client requested that the Library remained open during the construction stage which required a strong focus on safety and organisation ensuring that the wellbeing of the Library users was paramount in our planning.

Construction was completed in March 2009 and our client was entirely satisfied with the progress and running of the project.

Challenges:
• Library remained open throughout construction stage
• Site constraints for design around existing trees
