aed undertook a full refurbishment of the Blackhorse House hotel on behalf of Venue Reading. The hotel is located in the heart of the Whiteknights Campus and provides accommodation for visiting academics, post graduate students and private clients. The hotel was constructed in the 1980’s and was in need of refurbishment. The main aim was to transform the hotel and create a contemporary and relaxing environment that would make the hotel more inviting.

aed carried out a feasibility study setting out room options, which were then used for a detailed cost analysis. We created 3D rendered models to provide a clear visual representation of the rooms. The hotel has a total of 36 rooms and the proposal created 34 double rooms with 2 twin rooms. Each room has an en-suite which were also upgraded.

aed completed produced the detailed design package in a very limited time. Only 5 months were available for project completion due to the required opening date and client bookings. We also designed the remodelling and upgrade of the 3 seminar rooms within Blackhorse House.
