Aed were approached by a young family to design their dream home, achieve planning permission and produce a detailed technical design package. We did all of those things and more to ensure we were left with a very happy client.

The client managed to purchase a prime plot of land in rural Hampshire with fantastic views overlooking the countryside. This provided a great setting for a home but also a big challenge with regards to planning permission. Other practices had tried and failed but we were able to succeed through sympathetic design and communication with the local authority.

We arranged the building to follow the lines of an adjacent row of detached dwellings and located the higher elements of the build closer to the existing houses to limit impact on the surroundings. The front elevation and areas overlooking the farmland are reduced in height with rooms and circulation spaces formed within the roofspace. The main living areas are situated to the rear of the property with the rear elevation staggered and well-glazed to maximise the viewing angles out across the country.

Challenges:
• Achieving planning permission following previous failed attempts by others
• Producing fully detailed design package for execution by D&B Contractor
