We have worked in close partnership with The Westgate School to progressively implement a masterplan for the improvement and expansion of the campus. A flexible approach to masterplanning is essential to a successful outcome and at Westgate we set in place a loose framework for development which has enabled the School to benefit from a number of funding initiatives and opportunities.

Our first task was to undertake a detailed stock condition survey and space suitability appraisal. A series of curriculum analyses tested possible future scenario’s for change potential.

We undertook a school-wide study to assess the remodelling and extensions required for the school to become a centre in Slough for pupils with physical impairments. Four phases of construction works were implemented modifying horizontal and vertical circulation, adapting facilities within the service and technology areas, and constructing a new language department building and a specialised physiotherapy support unit.

Following on from the remodelling, in partnership with the School and the Local Authority we were successful again in obtaining funding for major expansion for the School. Our proposal was to provide a suite of eight new classrooms, a new sixth form centre, additional science and technology rooms, a new learning centre, reconstruction of the staff and administration areas and extension of the dining and assembly areas.
